product review
Omega-3 seems to be a current buzz
word in the health world, its benefits being touted all over the
place. As a "good fat", omega-3 is the fatty acid that our body doesn't create naturally by needs. It contributes to heart health, brain function, skin and hair appearance, and emotional well-being.
Recently, I was chatting with my
sister-in-law about Omega 3 and how she just started using it for
both her and her 8 year old son. Apparently, my other sister-in-law
has been giving it to her 11 year old daughter as well. Both of them
have seen amazing results for their kids in both focus and
productivity – a bonus in a busy house which is trying to
homeschool multiple kids.
I decided to do some research about it
and see what was out there.
They even make omega 3 products for your pets!
When I was given an opportunity to try
out some Ascenta product in our home, I jumped at the chance. It came
really quickly and we were excited to see how this “brain vitamin”
would work in our home.
There are six kinds to choose from, and there's lots of flavours (mango, berry, apple, citrus - depending on the kind you choose!)
After a lengthy decision, we picked the
bottle of Ascenta with Vitamin D. Why? For me, the choice was mostly
made because of the extra – I wanted to add more vitamin D to my
diet in order to counteract the fact I spend most of my time indoors
and hiding when I'm outdoors, thanks to my affinity to burn to a
lobster state of red.
The flavour of this bottle is apple –
and you can definitely tell it when you open the lid. The smell
reminded me of apple cider. In all honesty, while the flavour wasn't
bad, the texture surprised me. I'm not sure what exactly I was
expecting, but there's a clear oil sensation. Considering that this
product IS fish oil, I'm not sure why I was surprised. It would make
sense, after all.
The kids reactions were interesting.
Little wouldn't touch the stuff again after the first dose. Middle
loves it and Big takes it because he just loves vitamins of any sort.
Lol. I'm curious to see what another flavour would do for some of
them. Another trick to try is mixing the liquid into a cup of juice or some yogurt, eliminating the issue of texture.
Honestly, though - my 8 year old always reminds me that he needs his "brain medicine" in the morning and is quite willing to take his spoonful.

After a month of trying to be good and
take it as regularly as we could, I'm happy because I know it's
a terrifically healthy addition to our diets – especially since our
family hardly ever eats fish leaving a gaping hole in our nutrition
intake.
I recommend checking out this product.
After all, it's Canadian, health-boosting, brain power supporting,
and a much needed part of our daily diet.
