Over the winter, J and I did a lot of painting on our place. The boys' room, the kitchen, the hallways, the basement, the front entrance, the trim in the downstairs bathroom - nothing was safe from the craze of our redecorating phase. Except the office. We didn't make it to the office before the end of winter.
Despite the fact that our office was a delightful pinky-brown colour (ahem), we were really excited when Rona offered us a can of paint in any colour of our choosing from their interior paint collection.
We called in the expertise of my mother-in-law, who is a terrific painter and colour chooser, then found as close to the colour she suggested! We went with Chick Pea (4166-1). At first, I was worried about it. I hadn't a good idea of what EXACTLY that colour would be. Were we going to end up with a nasty taupe colour that I would hate?
I could barely wait to pry open the can when it arrived at home. And a deep sigh of relief.... a perfect complement to our already painted adjoining rooms of the yellow kitchen and soft champagne tone of the hallways.
I had planned to paint when Middle was out visiting Grandma. I packed up the boys and headed down to my parents' place (2.5 hours away) on the weekend, and when I got home I was surprised with a painted office! J is amazing! He used one of his only 2 days off this month to paint my office for me. (Thank you my J.!!)
He even took pictures to show the before and after, and left one wall for me to try out the paint as well. I am one lucky lady!
On Sunday morning I decided to get down to business and finish off the room.
In true me fashion, I covered myself in paint and realized the reason I'm typically banned from painting. I will say - it looks much better on the walls then it does on me/the floor/the kitten's tail.....
Anyways! It took two coats without primering to cover the gorgeous (blech) colour underneath.
I'm so pleased with the result. The room feels lighter, cleaner, and SO much brighter. In fact, that was the first comment out of the boys' mouths when they walked into the room. It's so perfect!
